  • I have lost the keys is it a problem?

    Not as long as Scrap-Car-Collections.com have your permission to gain entry. Our drivers are well trained and equipped to deal with this kind of problem.



  • My car has stood for a long time and may not move

    Scrap-Car-Collections.com can still collect your vehicle however it may take a little longer.



  • Does my vehicle need to be complete?

    Please tell Scrap-Car-Collections.com the full extent of the vehicle at the time of booking. This will enable us to allocate the correct vehicle for collection. Tyres would need to be inflated for towing for example.



  • Do you remove car shells?

    Based on our free service this is not possible. However Scrap-Car-Collections.com can sometimes dispose of vehicle shells for a minimal fee dependent on location.



  • Do you scrap larger vehicles?

    Yes, we take vans aswell as cars.



  • What do I need to do before and after collection?

    You need to clear all personal contents from your vehicle and remove any tax disc that you might wish to claim back. You must then complete section 9 on your logbook (V5 Document). If you do not have the V5 then you must notify the DVLA in writing.



  • What should I expect when I call or email?

    You will receive a response within 2 working hours of registering your vehicle with Scrap-Car-Collections.com



  • How long before you can collect?

    Scrap-Car-Collections.com can normally collect your vehicle within 24 hours at a time convenient to you.



  • Do I have to be present on collection?

    No, we can make arrangements for you to leave the keys and documents somewhere. Scrap-Car-Collections.com appreciate that sometimes your vehicle may not be in the same location as you.



  • Do I need a logbook?

    Scrap-Car-Collections.com can scrap your car without the logbook V5 document. However it is important that you notify the DVLA with a covering letter that you have scrapped your vehicle. You might also want to print an extra copy of our vehicle surrender form and post that to DVLA, Swansea SA99 1BD.



  • What about the DVLA?

    Scrap-Car-Collections.com send a copy if your Certificate of Destruction (CoD) the DVLA on your behalf.



  • Can I claim back my unused car tax?

    Yes, you can visit the DVLA website here for more information.



  • Do you issue a (CoD) Certificate of destruction?

    Yes, this is your receipt that confirms your vehicle will be scrapped in a lawful and environmentally sound manner. Scrap-Car-Collections.com issue them on request once the vehicle has been de-registered.



  • Are you licenced?

    Yes, we are licenced by the environmental agency as both a broker and carrier of vehicle waste.



  • Do you collect on weekends?

    Yes, we appreciate that you might be working during the week so we also pickup late in the evenings during the week aswell.



  • What areas of the UK do you cover?

    We cover it all free of charge.



  • When are your phone lines open?

    Telephone lines are open Monday to Friday 9am till 5pm and you can email us at anytime.



  • Why should I choose you?

    Scrap-Car-Collections.com offer a friendly and above all free service and guarantee no nasty suprises weeks down the line. We also collect at the time the vehicle is booked in.



  • Do you donate cars to charity?

    Yes we work alongside Hartlepool Fire Station to supply scrap cars, to aid the training of staff to practice life saving techniques. Scrap-car-collections donates these scrap cars free of charge.



  • Will you buy my car?

    Scrap-Car-Collections.com do not buy cars due to the free service we provide.



  • Can I buy a car from you?

    No, we do not sell cars.



  • Do you sell vehicle spare parts?

    Yes, we do. Should you be seeking a particular spare part please use the links at the top of this page to visit our 'Car Parts' area where you can submit your details and receive a prompt response.



  • I want to keep my number plate?

    When your application has been approved by the DVLA, you will receive a V778 Retention Document. Dont sell or scrap your vehicle till you receive this document!
